Collaborating with UK widow coach Karren Sutton to set up the UKs first Widows Choir was a proud moment in my career. An emotional experience and a privilege to hold space for such an incredible group of women.
Are you someone who would love to sing but lack the confidence or self belief that you actually can?
Perhaps singing in the shower or the car is where it begins and ends?
If this resonates, then my carefully developed and unique course is the answer in building your confidence.
By the end of the course you will be ready and raring to go with the confidence and the voice to sing out of the shower and join a choir!
This took place over the course of just 3 days in London for The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain,
to sing Rag n Bone man’s ‘Human’ in 3 part harmony.
This incredible performance was the end result.
Please note; there was no full choir rehearsal before what you see here!
This 5-Day Songwriting Challenge is an introduction to songwriting. You will learn how to create a song from scratch using only pen, paper, scissors and your own imagination. The exercises will take you on a creative journey!
Sophie published her first book at the end of 2020 ‘The Creative Song writing Journal’ l for children 6-12 years. Building confidence, encouraging creativity, and supporting self-expression. This how to guide is packed with exercises, inspirational quotes and her own unique approach to song writing. Underpinned by academic research as a result of Sophie qualifying with an MA specialising in singing and wellbeing, this is a powerful book that is now being used regularly by teachers, parents, music establishments and therapists.
Since its release in December of 2020, it has been endorsed by Sue Atkins, BBC, Disney and ITV’s This Morning parenting expert. In the spring of 2021, just 3 months after publication. Sophie gained representation with Speaking About Books. This has been a very exciting start to 2021 and Sophie is proud to be under the same agency as the famous author, Michael Rosen. Her second book ‘If you can’t say it Sing it’ is now published and available to order.
If you Can’t say it Sing it’ is Sophie’s 2nd book and was published in April 2021. This beautiful ring bound journal is printed in full colour on thick high-quality paper with a soft feel cover. It is packed with exercises, ideas and mini projects to fill in, cut out and keep.
They all encourage exploring emotions and self-understanding through song writing, creative storytelling and the one thing children have by the bucket load… imagination! This unique book is the perfect companion to Sophie’s first book ‘The Creative Song writing Journal’. You will learn skills that you can use and develop over and over again.
There is even a unique ‘Keep Out’ sign to cut out and hang on your door for when you are practicing!

An intensive one day workshop where a group of people learn two songs from scratch , complete with harmonies
Everyone has a book in them so the saying goes. Well I believe that also to be true of songs.
This group workshop, which is also available as a one to one service, takes you through an explorative and highly creative process which results in the writing of a song.
There is now a plethora of research and evidence confirming the many benefits of singing for our physical and mental health. These are just some of them.

How music can trigger golden memories and benefit people with dementia.
Singing for lung health. Music and other creative activities can make you feel healthier and more positive.
Group singing has been scientifically proven to lower stress, relieve anxiety, and elevate endorphins.
My mother, who has been living with dementia for over eight years, joined Sophie's Dementia Singing Group in 2018 and it was without a doubt the highlight of her week. She has always enjoyed singing and this provided the perfect outlet with a warm friendly support network. She was welcomed into the group like family and needed no encouragement to join in - the comradery in the group was amazing. Whilst my mother has difficulty recalling words and making sentences, she could remember a lot of lyrics to songs and the beneficial mental stimulation of this fun exercise was unquestionable. Afterwards my mother would be buzzing from the singing, repeating the songs and chatting enthusiastically about the experience.
Laughter is a constant backdrop to Sophie's groups - the simple yet vital pleasure of having fun with others, unabashed and without any self conscious restrictions. The ability of song and music to overpower anxiety and worry.
Sophie is an incredible and inspiring singer, host, tutor and facilitator. She is a one-woman powerhouse of energy, fun, enthusiasm and compassion allied to technical ability and academic rigour around the subject of singing for cognitive stimulation and improvement. I know of no other person like her!
Sadly, last year, the time came for my mother to move out of her home and away from the area to a beautiful residential care home on the south coast, closer to where I live. This has not curtailed Sophie's engagement and friendship with my mother. Sophie has visited my mother and my mother's recognition and delight - the smiles and immediate laughter (and singing of course) - were instant.
Put simply, Sohpie has brought joy and stimulation to my mother through music, song, dance, laughter and friendship. She has made my mother's dementia journey more rewarding and that bit easier.
Sophie has worked with her own personal experiences of singing performance, as well as vocal and emotional health. This has enriched her understanding and communication to the extent that she is now a leading expert in discovering, building and re-building people's vocal expression capabilities - she's a wonderful teacher and a gorgeous person.
Having sung professionally her entire career, Sophie’s work as a vocal coach and music teacher has led her to undertake academic research via a masters degree.
Sophie takes learning to a creative level and using singing she encourages and empowers those she works with regardless of age or experience.
Music does not lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.
